The part of the ‘tooth’ embedded into the jaw is known as root.  

Explanation:

It is composed of ‘cementum’, ‘root canal’, ‘nerves and blood vessels’, and ‘periodontal ligament’. The ‘root’ is covered by a ‘thin calcified covering’ known as cementum which is attached to the periodontal ligament.  

This ligament attaches the tooth to the ‘alveolar bone’ of the jaw. The root canal is occupied by ‘nerves’ and ‘blood vessels’ which nourishes the tooth.
