The partial pressure of the gas is 0.76 bar

Explanation:

Given data:

Mass of ethane = 6.56 x 10 g

Partial pressure of ethane = 1 bar

According to Henry's law,

 m= k x p

 6.56 x 10-2 g = k x 1 bar

 k = 6.56 x 10-2 g /  1 bar

 Now, if new m = 5 x 10-2 g

 Then 5 x 10-2 g = 6.56 x 10-2 x p

 Hence, p = 5 x 10-2/6.56 x 10-2

                = 0.76 bar

Thus the partial pressure of the gas is 0.76 bar
