International Congress or Congress party. It was founded in 1885 being the oldest party and experience many splits. It has played a great role in India's Independence. Leaded by Jawaharlal Nehru it favoured secular Democratic Republic. It ruled from 1977 and then from 1980 to 1989. It is a centrist party and its ideology is to support secularism and welfare of weaker sections and minorities and new economic reforms are leader of it has been the leader of UPA government from 2004 to 2014. It has played a huge role in opposition in Legislative Assembly nowadays.
