the passing marks required in exam are 50%. if a student scores 33% of the total marks and fails by 68 marks find the maximum marks.
please try to solve it by ratio method or by assuming the total marks?

Answer:

Assume total marks = X

Passing Marks = 50/100 × X

Then passing Marks = X/2

Now student scored 33 % and failed by 68 marks then, if you add 68 to 33 % it becomes the passing Marks.

33X/100 + 68 = X/2

33X + 6800/100 = X/2

6800 + 33X / 50 = X

6800+33x = 50X

6800 = 17 X

X = 6800/17 = 400
