We know,

F = q E, where

F = electric force

q = charge particles

E = electric field

Now, electric field lines originate from positive charge and terminate on negative charge.

So, when a proton will be entering into the uniform electric field, the electric force F acts on it which tends to move proton along the direction of electric field, because in above equation, q = +e,

=> F = +e E

Thus, force acting on the proton will be along the electric field.
