We know,
F = q E, where
F = electric force
q = charge particles
E = electric field
Now, electric field lines originate from positive charge and terminate on negative charge.
So, when a proton will be entering into the uniform electric field, the electric force F acts on it which tends to move proton along the direction of electric field, because in above equation, q = +e,
=> F = +e E
Thus, force acting on the proton will be along the electric field.
