EXPLANATION.

Graph of the equations.

⇒ 2x + 4y - 4 = 0. - - - - - (1).

⇒ x + 2y + 6 = 0. - - - - - (2).

As we know that,

From equation (1), we get.

⇒ 2x + 4y - 4 = 0. - - - - - (1).

Put the value of x = 0 in the equation, we get.

⇒ 2(0) + 4y - 4 = 0.

⇒ 4y - 4 = 0.

⇒ 4y = 4.

⇒ y = 1.

Their Co-ordinates = (0,1).

Put the value of y = 0 in the equation, we get.

⇒ 2x + 4(0) - 4 = 0.

⇒ 2x - 4 = 0.

⇒ 2x = 4.

⇒ x = 4.

Their Co-ordinates = (4,0).

From equation (2), we get.

⇒ x + 2y + 6 = 0. - - - - - (2).

Put the value of x = 0 in the equation, we get.

⇒ (0) + 2y + 6 = 0.

⇒ 2y + 6 = 0.

⇒ 2y = - 6.

⇒ y = - 3.

Their Co-ordinates = (0,-3).

Put the value of y = 0 in the equation, we get.

⇒ x + 2(0) + 6 = 0.

⇒ x + 6 = 0.

⇒ x = - 6.

Their Co-ordinates = (-6,0).

Both the curves are parallel to each other.

Given :-

2x + 4y - 4 = 0

x + 2y + 6 = 0

To Find :-

Represent graphically

Soution :-

◼ I n E q 1

2x + 4y - 4 = 0

2x + 4y = 4 (i)

Putting x as 0

↠ 2(0) + 4y = 4

↠ 0 + 4y = 4

↠ 4y = 4

↠ y = 4/4

↠ y = 1

Co-ordinate - (0,1)

Putting y as 0

↠ 2x + 4(0) = 4

↠ 2x = 4

↠ x = 4/2

↠ x = 2

Co-ordinate = (2,0)

◼ I n E q 2

x + 2y + 6 = 0

x + 2y = -6

Putting x as 0

↠ 0 + 2y = -6

↠ 2y = -6

↠ y = -6/2

↠ y = -3

Co-ordinate = (0,-3)

Putting y as 0

↠ x + 2(0) = -6

↠ x = -6

Co-ordinate = (-6,0)
