Appropriate Question :

The perimeter of a rectangular field is 180 metres if its breadth is 40 m. Find is length.

Given :

  • Perimeter of a rectangular field = 180 m
  • Breadth of the rectangular field = 40 m

To find :

  • Length of the rectangular field

Knowledge Required :

→ Formula of perimeter of rectangle :-

  • Perimeter = 2(l + b)

where,

  • l = length of he rectangle
  • b = breadth of the rectangle

Solution :

→ Perimeter = 2(l + b)

→ 180 = 2(l + 40)

→ 180/2 = l + 40

→ 90 = l + 40

→ 90 - 40 = l

→ 50 = l

Therefore,

  • Length of the rectangular field = 50 m

━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━

Verification :-

Substitute the value of l in 180 = 2(l + 40)

LHS = 180

Taking RHS,

→ 2(l + 40)

→ 2(50 + 40)

→ 2(90)

→ 180

RHS = 180

LHS = RHS

Hence, verified.

Know MorE :-

  • Area of square = side × side
  • Perimeter of square = 4 × side
  • Diagonal of square = √2a
  • Perimeter of reactangle = 2(l + b)
  • Diagonal of rectangle = √l² + √b²
