Given : a mixture of ¾ liter of pure water and x liters of 8% alcohol solution

To find : The percentage of alcohol in mixture

Solution:

Water = 3/4  Litre

=> Water = 0.75   Litre

x litre of 8% alcohol solution

=> alcohol = (8/100)x  = 0.08x  litre

water in x litre of 8% alcohol solution  = x - 0.08 = 0.92x   litre

Total mixture = x + 0.75  litre

Total alcohol =  0.08x  litre

% of alcohol in mixture  =   100 *  (0.08x )/(x + 0.75)

= 8x/(x + 0.75)

= 8x/(x + 3/4)

= 32x/(4x  + 3)

32x/(4x  + 3) %   alcohol in a mixture of ¾ liter of pure water and x liters of 8% alcohol solution
