Given :  percentage of milk in 100 ml solution x is twice the percentage of milk in 100ml solution Y.  solution X and solution Y are mixed in the ratio of 3:2  ; 40% of final mixture is milk

To Find : percentage of milk in the solution Y

Solution:

the percentage of milk in 100ml solution Y =  M %

=>  the percentage of milk in 100ml solution X =  2M %

Solution X  ia taken   =    3S

Solution Y is Taken  = 2S

Total = 3S + 2S = 5S

Milk in 3S   = (2M/100)3S   = 6MS/100

Milk in 2S = (M/100)2S  = 2MS/100

Total Milks = 8MS /100

Milk % in Solution = 100 *  (8MS/100) / (5S) = 8M/5

8M/5 = 40

=> M = 25

percentage of milk in the solution Y = 25  %
