heart rate increases which stimulates the breathing rate. With an increase in the heart rate, blood pumps through muscles at a faster rate.

As oxygen is

supplied via red blood cells so this increased rate of blood flow leaves less time for oxygen uptake and fast blood flow increases the oxygen supply in vigorous activity.
