Answer:

Friends Arjun, Aryan, Ayaan, Hayat, Stefan, Rahul, Arun, Maria, and Ravi study in the same university. The university's hostel is a 9 story building. The friends all live on different floors in the hostel. The bottommost floor of the building is numbered one, the one above that, the prime floor, is numbered two, and so on. The topmost floor is numbered nine. All of the friends have cell phones of unique brands: Nokia, Samsung, Gionee, Oppo, Vivo, Sony, Lenovo, Asus, and Apple.

There are 5 floors between Arun and the person that has the Asus cell phone. Hayat doesn't live on the prime floor. The one that has Nokia lives straight below the one that has Lenevo. The one that has Lenevo lives on an even number floor. The one with Gionee lives on an odd-numbered floor below the sixth floor. Aryan lives on the sixth floor and has Samsung. The one with the Sony cell phone lives on the prime floor. The one who has Vivo lives on the floor below the person who has Gionee’s cell phone. The one who has an Apple cell phone lives on the ordinal floor. Ravi lives above the floor in which Maria lives. Arjun lives straight below the one who has the Sony cell phone. Rahul lives on the floor to the immediate top of the floor in which the one who has an Asus cell phone. The one with the Vivo cell phone lives on an odd-numbered floor. There are two floors between Hayat and Aryan. The one who lives on the floor above Stefan’s floor has a Samsun cell phone, and the one who lives below has an Oppo cell phone. Ayaan lives on an even-numbered floor and has Oppo.

How many members live between Ayaan and the one who has Samsung?

Answer:

The selling price of the article if it is sold for 25% profit = Rs. 2275

Step-by-step explanation:

Given,

The percentage profit earned by selling an article for Rs. 2120 is equal to the percentage loss incurred by selling the same article for Rs. 1520

To find,

The selling price of the article if it is sold for 25% profit

Recall the formula

Profit OR loss Percentage = \frac{profit\  OR \ loss}{CP } X100

Solution:

Let cost price of the article in both the cases is same and let it be 'x'

Profit earned by selling an article for Rs. 2120 = SP - CP

= 2120 - X -----------(1)

Loss incurred by selling the same article for Rs. 1520 = CP - SP

= X - 1520 -------------(2)

Since, the percentage profit earned by selling an article for Rs. 2120 is equal to the percentage loss incurred by selling the same article for Rs. 1520

Profit % = Loss %

\frac{Profit }{CP }X 100 = \frac{Loss}{CP}X100

Cancel CP on both sides, as CP is same in both the cases

Profit  = Loss

2120 - X = X -1520

2x = 2120 +1520 = 3640

x = 1820

Cost Price = 1820

To find the SP if profit % = 25%

Profit = SP - CP

= SP - 1820

Profit % = \frac{Profit }{CP }X 100

25 = \frac{SP -1820}{1820 }X 100

1 = \frac{SP -1820}{1820 }X 4

1820 = 4(SP - 1820)

1820 = 4SP - 4×1820

1820 + 4×1820 = 4SP

9100 = 4SP

SP = \frac{9100}{4} = 2275

∴The selling price of the article if it is sold for 25% profit = Rs. 2275
