Let the two equal sides=X
perimeter=42
X+X+3/2X=42
2X+2X+3X=42•2
7X=84
X=12unit
let AD be the height of triangle ABC
by Pythagorous theorem,in triangle ABD
AB×AB=AD×AD+BD×BD
12×12=9×9+BD×BD
144=81+BD×BD
BD=√63
BD=3√7unit
Area of triangle ABC=1/2×b×h
=1/2×18×3√7
=27√7sq.unit
