Answer:

Given:-

The perimeter of a long bench is 6.8 metre, if its breadth is 1 metre what is its length?

To Find:-

The length.

Note:-

The long bench is a rectangle and hence, rectangle = 2 × ( Length + Breadth ).

Sometimes for finding some unknown value we rearrange its side, during that time

positive becomes negative

negative becomes positive

multiple becomes divisional

divisional becomes multiple.

Solution:-

Perimeter = 6.8 m, Breadth = 1 m, Length = ?; Let length be "x"

According to note first point~

▪︎ Perimeter \ \ of \ \ long \ \ bench = 2 × ( Length + Breadth )

▪︎ 6.8m = 2 × ( x + 1m )

After doing bracket calculations ( as variable + constant is always = variable + constant )~

▪︎ 6.8m = 2 × x + 1m

▪︎ 6.8m = 2x + 1m

According to note second point ( rearrangement)~

▪︎ 6.8m ÷ 2 = x + 1m

▪︎ 3.4m = x + 1m

▪︎ 3.4m - 1m = x

After doing subtraction~

▪︎ 2.4m = x

Checking:-

Now, let's check that perimeter of long bench = 2 × ( length + breadth ) or not?

 Perimeter \ \ of \ \ long \ \ bench = 2 × ( length + breadth ) \ \ ?

Applying the value~

 6.8m = 2 × ( 2.4m + 1m ) \ \ ?

 6.8m = 2 × 3.4m \ \ ?

 6.8m = 6.8m \ \ ?

Yes!

Hence, Proved that length = 2.4m

Answer:-

Hence, the length of long bench = 2.4m
