Given :

  • Perimeter of a parallelogram is 140cm.
  • One of the side is longer than the other by 10.

To Find :

  • Length of each of its sides.

Solution :

\longmapsto\tt{Let\:first\:side\:be(a)=x}

\longmapsto\tt{Second\:Side(b)=x+10}

Using Formula :

\longmapsto\tt\boxed{Perimeter\:of\:Parallelogram=2(a+b)}

Putting Values :

\longmapsto\tt{140=2(x+x+10)}

\longmapsto\tt{\cancel\dfrac{140}{2}=2x+10}

\longmapsto\tt{70-10=2x}

\longmapsto\tt{60=2x}

\longmapsto\tt{x=\cancel\dfrac{60}{2}}

\longmapsto\tt\bold{x=30}

Value of x is 30..

Therefore :

\longmapsto\tt\bold{First\:Side=30cm}

\longmapsto\tt{Second\:Side=10+30}

\longmapsto\tt\bold{40cm}

VERIFICATION :

\longmapsto\tt{140=2(30+40)}

\longmapsto\tt{140=2(70)}

\longmapsto\tt\bold{140=140}

\bf{\underline{\underline{Question:-}}}

The perimeter of a parallelogram is 140 cm . If one of the sides is longer then the other by 10 cm , find the length of each of its sides.

\bf{\underline{\underline{Given:-}}}

  • Perimeter of parallelogram is 140 cm
  • if one side is longer than the other by 10cm

So,

  • First side of parallelogram is a cm
  • and Second side is a + 10 cm

\bf{\underline{\underline{To\:Find:-}}}

  • Length of the both sides

\bf{\underline{\underline{FORMULA:-}}}

  • † Perimeter of parallelogram is 2 ( a + b )

\bf{\underline{\underline{Solution:-}}}

Substituting all values in formula

\sf :→ 140 = 2 ( a + a + 10)

\sf :→ \dfrac{140}{2} =  ( 2a + 10)

\sf :→ 70 = 2a + 10

\sf :→ 70 - 10= 2a

\sf :→ 60= 2a

\sf :→ a =\dfrac{60}{2}

\bf :→ a = 30

\bf{\underline{\underline{Hence:-}}}

  • First side is a cm = 30 cm
  • Second side is a + 10 cm = 30 + 10 = 40cm
