Explanation -:

Given :

  • Perimeter of a parallelogram = 170 cm
  • One of it's sides is 5 cm more than the other

To Find :

  • Sides of the parallelogram

Solution :

Let us assume one side of a parallelogram as x cm

Then,

Other side of a parallelogram = (x + 5)cm

Now, Opposite sides of a parallelogram are equal

According To Question

 \small \rm\pmb{x + (x + 5) + x + (x + 5) = 170}

 ⟼\small\rm{4x + 10 = 170}

⟼ \small\rm{4x = 170 - 10}

⟼ \small\rm{4x = 160}

 ⟼\small\rm{x =  \frac{160}{4}  = 40}

 \small\fbox{ \rm{x = 40}}

x = 40 cm

(x + 5) = 40 + 5 = 45 cm

Thus, sides of a parallelogram are 40 cm, 40 cm, 45 cm and 45 cm.
