Given :-

  • The perimeter of a parallelogram is 180 cm.
  • One of its sides is greater than the other by 30 cm.

To find :-

  • Length of the sides of the parallelogram.

Solution :-

  • Let one side of the parallelogram be x. Then the another side will be x + 30.

As we know that, opposite sides of a parallelogram are equal.

→ Larger sides = (x + 30) cm

→ Smaller sides = x cm

Perimeter of the parallelogram is given by

2(Larger side) + 2(Smaller side)

→ Perimeter = 180

→ 2(x + 30) + 2(x) = 180

→ 2x + 60 + 2x = 180

→ 4x = 180 - 60

→ 4x = 120

→ x = 120/4

x = 30

  • By putting the value of x

→ Larger sides are of = x + 30 = 60m

→ Smaller sides are of = x = 30cm

Hence,

  • Length of sides of the parallelogram are 60cm and 30cm.
