Given : The perimeter of a parallelogram is 36 cm.

One of its sides is greater than the other by 2 cm.

To Find :  The sides of the parallelogram

(a) 8 cm, 10 cm (b) 6 cm, 8 cm a (c) 12 cm, 14 cm (d) none of these

Solution:

One of sides is greater than the other by 2 cm.

Lets assume two adjacent sides are x  , x + 2 cm

Opposite sides of a parallelogram are equal

Hence remaining two sides are also x , x + 2 cm

Perimeter = x + x + 2 + x + x + 2  = 4x + 4 cm

Perimeter = 36 cm

Equate

=> 4x + 4 = 36

=> 4x = 32

=> x = 8

x +2 = 10

Hence sides are 8 , 10  cm
