Define x :

Let the width be x

The length is x + 4

Solve x:

Given that the perimeter is 72

Perimeter = 2(Length + Width)

72 = 2(x + x + 4)

72 = 2(2x + 4)

72 = 4x + 8

4x = 64

x = 16 m

Find the Length and Width:

Width = x = 16 m

Length = x + 4 = 16 + 4 = 20 m

Answer: The Length is 20 m and the Width is 16 m

Solution -

Let's assume the length as x meters

So, the width as x - 4 meters

According to Question,

[ ∵ Perimeter of ||gm = 2(l + w) ]

Perimeter of ||gm = 72 m

⇒ 2[x + x - 4] = 72

⇒ 2x - 4 = 72/2 = 36

⇒ 2x = 36 + 4 = 40

⇒ x = 40/2

⇒ x = 20

Length = x m = 20 m

Width = (x - 4) m = (20 - 4) m = 16 m

∴ Length and With of parallelogram are 20 m and 16 m respectively
