The perimeter of a parallelogram is 8cm. Find the length of all sides.

Plz answer ASAP... ;)

mysticd: data is not sufficient to find all the sides .plz check
GovindKrishnan: It should be solved with this data... Not simple... Answers may vary... Class 9 Ch: Quadrilaterals

Well to answer this question let's start with the simple property of parallelogram which is ----
"Opposite sides are equal in length"

So by remembering let's start,
Perimeter of parallelogram = 2(base+side length)
8 cm = 2(base+side length)
base+side length = 4 cm

So the length of base and side length in together is 4 cm.
Now let's make cases---
Case-1 =>If base and side length measure 2 cm each it disapproves the above property of a parallelogram .
Case -2 =>If base measures = 3 cm and side length = 1 cm they both are different so it is obeying above property.
Base + Side length = (3+1) cm

So, from above cases we see that the second case is a right one.
So, the base length and its opposite side is 3 cm.
And the side length and its opposite side is 1 cm.

So let's conclude it with a simple proof----
Perimeter of parallelogram = 2(base+side length)
8 cm = 2(3+1)= 2(4) = 8 cm
LHS = RHS
And in the above question perimeter is given 8cm so it proves it.

First side = 3 cm
Second side = 1 cm
Third side = 3 cm
Fourth side = 1 cm
