tex]For a square of sides measuring 15cm, the perimeter is calculated as: 15+15+15+15= 4×15

Perimeter = 60cm

We are told from the question that the rectangle has a length of 18cm and a perimeter equal to that of the square (60cm). Let the length and width of the rectangle be X and Y respectively. We know the length (X =18) hence for equal perimeter then; X + X + Y +Y= 60

2X + 2Y= 60 ( but X =18)

2×18+2Y=60

2Y=60–36

2Y=24

Y=24/2

Y=12.

Area of rectangle= length(X) × width(Y)

Area= X×Y= 18 × 12

Area= 216cm^2\[/tex]
