Your answer

Let the length be x and breadth be y. Therefore, 2(x+y)= 10

x+y=5

y= 5 - x

Hence, area = x(5-x)= 5.25

★ ( 5 1/4 can also be written as 5.25) Don't get confused

5x-x² = 5.25

x² - 5x + 5.25 = 0

Now x² - 5x + 21 /4 = 0

4x²-20x +21 = 0 ( Multiply both sides by 4)

4x² - 6x - 14x +21 = 0 (Write -20 as a difference )

2x × (2x-3) -14x + 21 = 0 (Factor out 2x from the expression)

2x × (2x-3) -7 (2x-3) = 0 ( Factor out -7 from the expression)

(2x-3) × (2x-7) = 0

When the product of factors equals 0 , at least one factor is 0

2x-3 = 0

2x-7 = 0

x= 3/2 and x = 7/2

It can be written as 3/2 = 1.5 and 7/2 = 3.5 So Length is 3.5 cm and Breadth is 1.5 cm Hope it helps you

 Hi -How -are -you -?

The above user think that its 51 /4 so the answer came wrong...

actually its 5 and 1 / 4

u know na that We can write 1/4 as 0.25

so 5 and 1 / 4 = 5.25
