SOLUTION

GIVEN

  • The perimeter of a rectangle is 120 cm

  • The breadth is 35 cm

TO DETERMINE

The length and area

EVALUATION

Let length = L cm

Now it is given that perimeter of a rectangle is 120 cm

So by the given condition

 \sf{2(L + 35) = 120}

 \sf{ \implies \: (L + 35) = 60}

 \sf{ \implies \: L  = 25}

Hence the required length = 25 cm

Area of the rectangle

= 35 × 25 cm²

= 875 cm²

N.B : For a rectangle Length > Breadth

So in the question length = 35 cm

Accordingly breadth = 25 cm

Given:

The perimeter of a rectangle is 120 cm. If the breadth is 35 cm

To find:

its length and area

Solution:

Perimeter = 120 cm, breadth = 35 cm

Finding the length:

The perimeter of a rectangle = 2(length + breadth)

120 = 2(length + 35)

120 = 2length + 70

2length = 120 - 70

2length = 50

length = 50/2

length = 25cm

Finding the Area:

Area of a rectangle = length x breadth

=> 25 x 35

=> 875cm^{2}

Hence, the length is 25cm and Area is 875cm^{2}
