Answer :

  • Length of rectangle = 55cm
  • Breadth of rectangle = 27cm

Given :

  • Perimeter of a rectangle is 162m
  • Length is 3m more than twice the breadth

To find :

  • Length and breadth of a rectangle

Solution :

  • Let the breadth of rectangle be x cm

Given that, Length is 3m more than twice the breadth so,

  • Length = 2x + 3 cm

Perimeter is 162m

We know that,

  • Perimeter of rectangle = 2(l + b)

Where , l is length and b is breadth

》Perimeter of rectangle = 2(length + breadth)

》162 = 2(2x + 3 + x)

》162 = 4x + 6 + 2x

》162 = 6x + 6

》6x = 162 - 6

》6x = 156

》x = 26

Now , we have to find the length and breadth of a rectangle :

》Length = 2x + 3

》2(26) + 3

》52 + 3

》55cm

》Breadth = 26cm

Hence,

  • Length of rectangle = 55cm
  • Breadth of rectangle = 27cm

Verification :

》Perimeter of rectangle = 2(l + b)

》2(55 + 26)

》2(81)

》162cm

Hence , Verified.
