The perimeter of a rectangle is 170 cm. One of its sides is 5 cm more than the other. Find the sides of the rectangle.

So,

breadth can be taken as x

and length can be taken as x+5

Substituting this in the equation,

2x + 5= \frac{170}{2}

2x + 5 = 85

2x = 85 - 5

2x = 80

x = \frac{80}{2}

x = 40

So, breadth is 40cm.

We took length as breadth + 5cm,

So , length will be 45 cm.
