Answer:

  • Length and breadth of the rectangle is 6 cm and 4 cm respectively.

Step-by-step explanation:

Given that:

  • The perimeter of a rectangle is 20 cm.
  • Its breadth is 2 cm less then its length.

To Find:

  • Length and breadth of the rectangle.

Let us assume:

  • Length of the rectangle be x cm
  • Breadth of the rectangle = (x - 2) cm

Formula used:

  • Perimeter of rectangle = 2(Length + Breadth)

Finding the length and Breadth:

According to the question.

⟶ 20 = 2(x + x - 2)

⟶ 20 = 2x + 2x - 4

⟶ 20 = 4x - 4

⟶ 4x = 20 + 4

⟶ 4x = 24

⟶ x = 24/4

⟶ x = 6

We get that:

  • Length = x = 6 cm
  • Breadth = x - 2 = 6 - 2 = 4 cm

Given :-

Perimeter = 20 cm

Breadth = Length - 2

To Find :-

Length and breadth

Solution :-

Let length be x

And,

Breadth = x - 2

\sf 20 = 2\bigg(x+x-2\bigg)

\sf \dfrac{20}{2} = x + x-2

\sf 10 = x+x-2

\sf 10 = 2x-2

\sf 10 + 2=2x

\sf 12 =2x

\sf \dfrac{12}{2} = x

\sf 6= x

Breadth = 6 - 2 = 4 cm

Length = 6 cm
