Step-by-step explanation:

Let the length be x metres

Then breadth will be (x - 2) metres.

According to the question,

⟹ Perimeter of a rectangle = 2(l + b)

⟹ 20 = 2(x + x - 2)

⟹ 20 = 2(2x - 2)

⟹ 20 = 4x - 8

⟹ 20 + 8 = 4x

⟹ 4x = 28

⟹ x = 28/4

⟹ x = 7metres ans.

And also breadth will be x - 2 = 5 metres

G I V E N :

  • The perimeter of a rectangle is 20m.Its breadth is 2m less than its length.

T O F I N D :

  • Length of rectangle = ?
  • Breadth of rectangle = ?

C O N C E P T :

  • Perimeter of rectangle = 2(Length + Breadth)

S O L U T I O N :

  • Perimeter = 20 m

Let Length be 'x' and then Breadth will be 'x - 2'

According to Question :-

→ Perimeter of rectangle = 2(Length + Breadth)

→ 20 = 2(x + x - 2)

→ 20 = 2(2x - 2)

→ 20 = 4x - 4

→ 20 + 4 = 4x

→ 24 = 4x

→ x = 24 ÷ 4

x = 6 m

Hence,

  • Length of rectangle = x = 6 m
  • Breadth of rectangle = x - 2 = 6 - 2 = 4 m

➝ 20 = 2(6 + 4)

➝ 20 = 2(10)

➝ 20 = 20
