The perimeter of a rectangle is 240 cm and it's length and breadth are in ratio 5 : 3. Find the area of the square

tejukarne123: given perimeter of rectangle is 240 cm = 2(l+b) then
tejukarne123: (l+b) = 240/2
tejukarne123: l+b = 120
tejukarne123: sum of parts if ratio =5+3=8
tejukarne123: l=5/8×120=5×15=75
tejukarne123: b=3/8×120=3×15=45
itzHitman: yeah it is correct process
tejukarne123: now do we have to find area of rectangle or square

Correct Question:

The perimeter of a rectangle is 240 cm and its length and breadth are in ratio 5 : 3. Find the area of the rectangle.

Answer:

3375 cm² is the area of the rectangle.

Explanation:

Given

  • The given shape is a rectangle.
  • Perimeter of the shape is 240 cm.
  • The length and breadth are in ratio 5 : 3.

To Find

  • The area of the rectangle.

Solution

Let "x" be the common factor between the sides.

So,

  • Length of the rectangle = 5x
  • Breath of the rectangle = 3x

Perimeter of a rectangle = 2( length + Breath )

⇛ 240cm = 2( 5x + 3x )

⇛ 240cm = 2( 8x )

⇛ 240cm = 16x

⇛ 240cm/16 = x

⇛ 15cm = x

Length = 5x = 5(15cm) = 75cm

Breath = 3x = 3(15cm) = 45cm

Area of a rectangle = Length × Breath

Area = 75cm × 45cm

Area = 3375 cm²

thebrainlykapil: You answer is good but , perimeter is given in cm so length and breadth will also be in cm but you have written m. Over all Answer is awesome :)

Correct Question :-

  • The perimeter of a rectangle is 240 cm and it's length and breadth are in ratio 5 : 3. Find the area of the Rectangle.

 \\  \\

Given :-

  • Ratio of Length and Breadth = 5:3
  • Perimeter of the Rectangle = 240cm

 \\  \\

To Find :-

  • What is the Area of Rectangle ?

 \\  \\

Solution :-

  • Firstly we will find the value of Length and Breadth then we will apply the Formula of Area of Rectangle .

 \\

Let the Length be 5x

Let the Breadth be 4x

 \\

 {:} \longrightarrow \sf\boxed{\bf{Perimeter_{(Rectangle)} \: = \: 2(Length \: + \: Breadth) }}\\

 {:} \longrightarrow \sf{\sf{240 \: = \: 2(5x \: + \: 4x) }}\\

 {:} \longrightarrow \sf{\sf{240 \: = \: 2\: \times \: 8x }}\\

 {:} \longrightarrow \sf{\sf{240 \: = \: 16x}}\\

 {:} \longrightarrow \sf{\sf{\cancel\dfrac{240}{16} \: = \: x}}\\

 {:} \longrightarrow \sf{\bf{15 \: = \: x}}\\

━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━

Length = 5x = 5 × 15 = 75cm

Breadth = 3x = 3 × 15 = 45cm

━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━

 \longmapsto \sf\boxed{\bf{Area_{(Rectangle)} \: = \: Length \: \times \: Breadth }}\\

 \longmapsto \sf{\sf{Area_{(Rectangle)} \: = \: 75 \: \times \: 45 }}\\

 \longmapsto \sf{\bf{Area_{(Rectangle)} \: = \:3375cm^{2} }}\\

━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━

So, Area of Rectangle is \sf 3375cm^{2}
