The perimeter of a rectangle is 240cm. If it's length is decreased by 10% and it's breadth increased by 20%, we get the same perimeter. Find the length and breadth of the rectangle.

2l+b)=240
l+b=120
therefore b=120-l {for first statement }
l is decreased to 10%=l(100/100-10/100)⇒l(0.9)
b is increased to 20%=b(100/100+20+100)⇒b(1.2)
therefore from the second statement we get
2(l[0.9]+b[1.2])=240
l[0.9]+120-l[1.2]=120
on calculating we get
l(0.3)=120
l=40
then b=120-40=80
∴l =40 b=80
