Concept

The whole distance that a rectangle's borders, or its sides, cover is known as its perimeter. Given that a rectangle has four sides, the perimeter of the rectangle will be equal to the total of its four sides.

Given

  • The perimeter of rectangle given is 28cm
  • The breadth given is 4cm

Find

We need to find the area of rectangle

Solution

Given

Perimeter of rectangle  = 28 cm

Breadth = 4 cm

Let the length be x

We know that Perimeter of Rectangle = 2(l+b)

∴ 28 = 2(4+x)

∴ 28 = 8+2x

∴28-8= 2x

∴ 20 = 2x

∴ x = 10cm

Hence the length is 10cm

Now we need to find the area of rectangle

The area of rectangle is length * breadth

∴ Area = 10*4 = 40cm^2

Hence the area of the rectangle is 40cm^2
