The Perimeter of a rectangle is 39 cm. If the ratio of the lengths of two adjacent
side is 5:8, find the lengths of two sides :

Since breadith is smaller in a rectangle its length will be 5x and length of the rectangle will be 8x.

Perimeter given=39

So,

Perimeter of rectangle formula=2(l+b)

i.e. 39=2(8x+5x)

39= 16x+10x

39=26x

x=39/26=3/2

x=3/2

So,

breadith of recatangle=5x=5×3/2=15/2=7.5

length of rectangle=8x=8×3/2=24/2=12

therfore,adjacent sides of the rectangle are 7.5cm and 12cm
