Step-by-step explanation:

perimeter = 40

length t

= 2 breadth +2

perimeter of rectangle = 2(l+b)

40 = 2(2b+2+b)

40/2 = 3b+2

20-2 =3b

18/3 =b

so b=6cm

l=2b+2

l=2*6+2

l=12+2=14

Given :

The perimeter of a rectangle is 40 cm. The length of the rectangle is more than  double its breadth by 2.

To find :

Find length and breadth.

Solution :

Let the breadth of rectangle be "a" cm.

∴ Length of rectangle = (2a + 2) cm

So atq,

⇒ 2(2a + 2 + a) = 40

⇒ 2(3a + 2) = 40

⇒ 3a + 2 = 40/2

⇒ 3a + 2 = 20

⇒ 3a = 20 - 2

⇒ 3a = 18

⇒ a = 18/3

a = 6

Length of rectangle = 2a + 2 = 2(6) + 2 = 12 + 2 = 14 cm

Breadth of rectangle = a = 6 cm.
