Explanation:

Let b=x

l=5x-4

P=40

2(l+b)=40

(l+b)=20

(5x-4+x)=20

6x-4=20

6x=24

x=4

l=5X4-4

L=20-4

L=16,B=4

Answer:

length = 16

breadth = 4

Explanation:

let the breadth be x

then the height = 5x - 4

according to question ,

        2 (y + 5y - 4) = 40

  • (6y + 4) = 40 ÷ 2
  • 6y + 4 = 20
  • 6y = 20 + 4
  • 6y = 24
  • y = 24 ÷ 6

therefore, y = 4

breadth = 4

length    = 5 × 4 - 4

              =20 - 4

              = 16
