Let the length of the rectangle be x.

breadth is 4- 5x

Perimeter of rectangle = 2( length + breadth)

= 2(4 - 5x) = 40

= 8 - 10x = 40

= -10x = 40-8

= x = -32/10

= x = -16/5

Hence, The length is -16/5 meters.
