Let the breadth be x.m
the length be 5x- 4m
So perimeter= 2[(5x-4)+x]m
= 2(5x+x-4)
=2(6x-4)
=12x-8
By condition,
12x-8= 40
12x= 40-8
12x= 36
x= 36/12
x= 3
Therefore breadth = 3m
and length =( 5×3)+4m= 15+4m= 19m.
