Answer:

Let length of the rectangle= x

breadth of the rectangle = x-4

perimeter of the rectangle = 40cm

p = 2x l+b

p = 2 x x+x-4

p = 2 x 2x-4

p = 4x-8

4x-8 = 40

4x = 40+8

4x = 48

x = 48/4

x = 12

length = 12

breadth = x-4

= 12-4

= 8

breadth = 8

Perimeter =40cm

Let length be x & breadth be x - 4

P=2[l + b ]

40 = 2 [ x + x - 4 ]

40 = 2x + 2x - 8

40 + 8 = 4x

48 = 4x

x =48/4

x = 12

Therefore length =12

breadth =12-4

=8
