Answer:

Given :-

  • Perimeter = 40 cm
  • Length is 4 cm less than 5 times of breadth

To Find :-

Length and Breadth

Solution :-

Let the breadth be x cm.

Length = (5 × x) - 4 = 5x - 4

 \sf \: 40 = 2 \bigg((5x - 4) + x \bigg)

 \sf \: 40 = 2(5x - 4 + x)

 \sf \: 40 = 10x - 8 + 2x

 \sf \: 40 + 8 = 10x + 2x

 \sf \: 48 =  10x + 2x

 \sf \: 48 = 12x

 \sf \: x \:  =   \cancel\dfrac{48}{12}

 \frak \red{x = 4}

Now,

 \sf \pink{Breadth = 4 \: cm}

 \sf \pink{Length \ = 5(4) - 4 = 20 - 4 = 16 \: cm }
