Answer:

Let the length be l and breadth be b

according to the question

l=5b−4

Since ,

Perimeter,

P=2[l+b]

40=2[5b−4+b]

40=12b−8

12b=48

b=4

l=5×4−4

l=20−4

l=16

Therefore Length of the rectangle is 16m

Answer:

length= 16m

Step-by-step explanation:

let, length=x ,

breadth=y

As per the question,

x+4 = 5y

x = 5y-4 ____ eq.1

perimeter = 2(x+y)

40 = 2( 5y-4 + y )

40 = 2( 6y-4 )

40 = 12y -8

40+8 = 12y

48 = 12y

48/12 = y

4 = y

subtitute y=4 in eq.1

x = 5y-4

x = 5×4-4

= 20-4

= 16
