Given:

  • Perimeter of rectangle is 48 m
  • Length of rectangle = (5x + 4) m
  • Breadth of rectangle = (x + 2) m

To find:

  • Length and breadth of rectangle?

Solution:

• Perimeter of Rectangle = 2(l + b)

According to the Question:

⇏ 2((5x + 4) + (x + 2)) = 48

⇏ (5x + 4) + (x + 2) = 48/2

⇏ 6x + 6 = 24

⇏ 6(x + 1) = 24

⇏ x + 1 = 24/6

⇏ x + 1 = 4

⇏ x = 4 - 1

⇏x = 3

Therefore,

  • Length of rectangle, (5x + 4) = 5 × 3 + 4 = 15 + 4 = 19 m
  • Breadth of rectangle, (x + 2) = 3 + 2 = 5 m

∴ Hence, Length and Breadth of rectangle is 19 m and 5 m respectively.

Answer:

48 = 2(5x + 4 + x + 2) \\  48 = 10x + 8 + 2x + 4 \\ 12x + 12 = 48 \\ 12x = 48 - 12 = 36 \\ x =  \frac{36}{12}  \\ x = 3 \\ 5x + 4 = 19 \\ x + 2 = 5 \\ so \: length \:  = 19 \\  \\ breath = 5
