GIVEN:

  • Perimeter of rectangle = 50 cm
  • Length is 5 cm more than its breadth

TO FIND:

  • What is the length and breadth of the rectangle ?

SOLUTION:

We have given that the length is 5 cm more than its breadth

According to question:-

\rm{\dashrightarrow L = B + 5....1)}

We know that the formula for finding the perimeter of the rectangle is:-

\bf{\star \: Perimeter = 2(Length + Breadth) \: \star}

According to question:-

On putting the given values in the formula, we get

\rm{\dashrightarrow 50 = 2(B + 5 + B)}

\rm{\dashrightarrow 50 = 2(2B + 5) }

\rm{\dashrightarrow \cancel\dfrac{50}{2} = 2B + 5 }

\rm{\dashrightarrow 25 = 2B + 5 }

\rm{\dashrightarrow 25-5 = 2B}

\rm{\dashrightarrow 20 = 2B}

\rm{\dashrightarrow \cancel\dfrac{20}{2} = B}

\bf{\star \: 10 \: cm = B \: \star}

Put the value of 'B' in equation 1)

\rm{\dashrightarrow L = 10 + 5}

\bf{\star \: L = 15 \: cm \: \star}

Hence, the length and breadth of the rectangle is 15 cm and 10 cm respectively. ❞

The perimeter of a rectangle is 50 cm.the length is 5 cm more than its breadth.find the length and breadth of the rectangle...

✰✰ ANSWER ✰✰

\longmapsto\tt{Let\:the\:Breadth\:be=x}

As Given that lenth is 5cm more than breadth..So,

\longmapsto\tt{Length\:of\:Rectangle=x+5}

\longmapsto\tt{Perimeter\:of\:Rectangle=50cm}

Using Formula : -

\longmapsto\tt{\small{\boxed{\bold{\bold{\purple{\sf{Perimeter\:of\:Rectangle=2(l+b)}}}}}}}

Putting Values : -

\longmapsto\tt{50=2(l+b)}

\longmapsto\tt{50=2(x+x+5)}

\longmapsto\tt{50=2(2x+5)}

\longmapsto\tt{\cancel\dfrac{50}{2}=2x+5}

\longmapsto\tt{25=2x+5}

\longmapsto\tt{25-5=2x}

\longmapsto\tt{20=2x}

\longmapsto\tt{x=\cancel\dfrac{20}{2}}

\red\longmapsto\:\large\underline{\boxed{\bf\green{x}\orange{=}\purple{10cm}}}

Now ,

\longmapsto\tt{Breadth=x}

\longmapsto\tt{10cm}

\longmapsto\tt{Length=x+5}

\longmapsto\tt{10+5}

tex]\longmapsto\tt{15cm}[/tex]

VERIFICATION : -

\longmapsto\tt{Perimeter\:of\:Rectangle=2(l+b)}

\longmapsto\tt{50=2(15+10)}

\longmapsto\tt{50=2(25)}

\longmapsto\tt{50=50}

\pink\longmapsto\:\large\underline{\boxed{\bf\orange{L.H.S}\red{=}\green{R.H.S}}}
