let the length be x
Given:perimeter=52cm
width=1/3x+2cm
length =x

perimeter=2(l+b)
52cm=2(x+1/3x+2)
52cm=2(4x/3+2)
52cm=8x/3+4
52-4=8x/3
48=8x/3
48÷8=x/3
6×3=x
18cm=x
hence the length =18cm
now according to question,
1/3x=width
1/3×18=width
6cm= width
therefore the width equals to 6cm
