Step-by-step explanation:

Given,

perimeter = 60cm.

length= 4x

breadth = x

now,to find its side..

perimeter of rectangle=2(l+b)

60=2(4x+x)

60=2×5x

60=10x

60/10=x

6=x

here, x=6

so that,

length = 4×6=24

breadth= 6

ATQ,

The area of rectangle =l×b

=24×6

=144

hence the area of rectangle is 144cm²

Here in this question, concept of perimeter of rectangle as well as area of rectangle is used. We are given perimeter of rectangle and we are asked to find area of rectangle. To find area of rectangle, we have to find length and breadth of rectangle.

So let's do it!!

_______________________________

Let us assume breadth of rectangle be x.

Now it is given that length is 4 times of breadth.

So length of rectangle=4x

Now applying formula for perimeter of rectangle:

Perimeter of rectangle=2(L+B)

Here,

L refers to length

B refers to breadth

Perimeter of rectangle=2(L+B)

⇒ 60cm=2(4x+x)

⇒ 60cm=2(5x)

⇒ 60cm=10x

⇒ 60cm/10=x

⇒ 6cm=x

So breadth of rectangle=x=6cm

Perimeter of rectangle=4x

Perimeter of rectangle=4×6cm

Perimeter of rectangle=24cm

_______________________________

Now we have formula for area of rectangle:

Area of rectangle=Length×Breadth

Area of rectangle=24cm×6cm

Area of rectangle=144cm²

So required area of rectangle is 144cm².
