The perimeter of a rectangular plot is 32 metres. If length is increased by 2 metres and breadth is decreased by one metre, the area of the plot remains unchanged. Find the dimensions of the plot.

for the next triangle let the length be x + 2 to and breadth be y-1.

area of the first triangle = area of the second triangle.

xy=xy-x+2y-2

x=2y-2

the perimeter of the rectangle is 32 so,

2(l+b)=32

2(x+y)=32

x+y=16

2y-2+y=16

3y=18

y=6

then y = 6 and x =10

means length = 10 and breadth =6
