To find : ratio of the length of rectangular plot to its width in simplest form .

Given : perimeter of rectangular plot = 400 \ ft ,

              breadth = 50 \ ft

  • According to question we are given that perimeter and breadth of rectangular plot is 400 \ ft and 50\ ft respectively .
  • To find perimeter we use following formula -

         Area of perimeter of plot = 2 ( l + b )

  • Substituting the values we get,

          400 = 2 ( l + 50 ) \\200 = l + 50 \\l = 200 - 50 \\l = 150

  • Therefore , length of plot is 150 \ ft .
  • Now ratio of length  its width is = \frac{150}{50}

                                                            = \frac{3}{1}

                                                            = 3 : 1

Hence, ratio of the length of rectangular plot to its width in simplest form is 3 : 1 .
