Given -

  • Perimeter of rectangular sheet = 100cm

  • Length of sheet = 35cm

To find -

  • Breadth and area of rectangular sheet.

Formula used -

  • Perimeter of rectangle = 2(l + b)

  • Area of rectangle = l × b

Solution -

First we will find the breadth of the rectangular sheet by using the formula of perimeter of rectangle. For now let's term the Breadth as b

Perimeter of rectangle = 2(l + b)

where,

l = Length

b = Breadth

On substituting the values -

Perimeter of rectangle = 2(l + b)

\longmapsto 100cm = 2(35cm + b)

\longmapsto 35cm + b = \sf\cancel{\dfrac{100}{2}}

\longmapsto 35cm + b = 50

\longmapsto b = 50 - 35cm

\longmapsto b = 15cm

\therefore The Breadth of the rectangular sheet is 15cm

Now,

We have both length and breadth of the rectangular sheet, so, we will find the area if the rectangular sheet by multiplying length by breadth.

Area of rectangle = l × b

where,

l = Length

b = Breadth

On substituting the values -

\longmapsto Area = L × B

\longmapsto Area = 35cm × 15cm

\longmapsto Area = 525cm

Verification -

Perimeter = 2(l + b)

100cm = 2(35cm + 15cm)

100cm = 2(50cm)

100cm = 100cm

\therefore The Breadth of rectangular sheet is 15cm and area is 525cm

Answer:

Given :-

  • The perimeter of a rectangular sheet is 100 cm.
  • The length is 35 cm.

Find Out :-

  • Breadth
  • Area

Formula Required :-

Perimeter of rectangle = 2(Length + Breadth)

Area of rectangle = Length × Breadth

Solution :-

To find breadth,

100 = 2(35 + b)

100 = 70 + 2b

- 2b = 70 - 100

- 2b = - 30

b = \dfrac{- 30}{- 2}

b = 15 cm

The breadth of rectangular sheet is 15 cm.

Now, to find area,

Area = 35 × 15

Area = 525 cm

The area of rectangular sheet is 525 cm.
