Solution

Given:-

  • the perimeter of a rectangular sheet is 170 cm
  • its breadth is 15cm less than its lenght

Find :-

  • Lengths & Breadth of rectangle and also find area

Explanation

Using Formula

\boxed{\underline{\tt{\red{Perimeter_{rectangle}\:=\:2\times(Length+Breadth)}}}}

\boxed{\underline{\tt{\red{Area_{rectangle}\:=\:(Length\times\:Breadth)}}}}

Let,

  • Length be x
  • Breadth be y.

A/c to question,

==> perimeter of rectangle = 170

==> 2×(x + y) = 170

==> (x + y) = 170/2

==> (x + y) = 85_______________(1)

Again,

==> x = y - 15

==> x - y = -15_________________(2)

Add equation (1) & (2)

==> 2x = 85 - 15

==> 2x = 70

==> x = 70/2

==> x = 35

Keep Value of x in equ (2)

==> 35 - y = -15

==> y = 35 + 15

==> y = 50

_____________________________

Now, calculate area.

==> Area of rectangle = x . y

==> Area of rectangle = 35 . 50

==> Area of rectangle = 1750 cm²

___________________________

Hence

  • Length of rectangle be = 35 cm
  • Breadth of rectangle be = 50 cm
  • Area of rectangle be = 1750 cm²
