The perimeter of a rectangular swimming pool is 154m. Its length is 2 m more than twice its breadth. What are the length and the breadth of the pool?

Given Perimeter =154m

Let the breadth =x

length =2x+2

Perimeter of a rectangle => 2(l+b)

2(l+b)=2(x+2x+2)

=2(3x+2)=154

=>3x+2=1542

=>3x+2=77

3x=77−2

3x=75

x=753

=25

Breadth =25

length =25×2+2

=50+2

=55m

Let the BREADTH be x metre and length be 2x +2 metre (A.T.Q)

Now ,

Perimeter of rectangle = 2(l+b)

154 m = 2 [ (2x+2) + x ) ]


154/2 = 2x + 2 + x


77 = 3x + 2

3x = 77 -2

x = 75/3

x = 25m

NOW , LENGTH = 2x+2 = 2(25)+2 = 52m

AND BREADTH = x = 25m
