Required Answer :

Breadth of the rectangular swimming pool = 30 m

Given :

  • Perimeter of the rectangular swimming pool = 184 m
  • The length of the rectangular swimming pool is 2 m more than twice its breadth

To find :

  • Breadth of the pool

Solution :

Let :-

  • Breadth of the rectangular swimming pool = x metre
  • Length of the rectangular swimming pool = 2(Breadth of the pool) + 2 metre = 2x + 2 metre

Using formula,

  • Perimeter of the rectangle = 2(l + b)

where,

  • l = length
  • b = breadth

Substituting the given values :-

⇒ 184 = 2(2x + 2 + x)

⇒ 184 = 2(3x + 2)

⇒ 184/2 = 3x + 2

⇒ 92 = 3x + 2

⇒ 92 - 2 = 3x

⇒ 90 = 3x

⇒ 90/3 = x

⇒ 30 = x

Substituting the value of 'x' in the breadth of rectangular swimming pool which we've assumed :-

⇒ Breadth = x = 30 m
