Given :

  • Perimeter of square = 96 m
  • New length is 50% more of original length

Let :

Original length of side = x

To find :

  • Original length of side
  • New perimeter

Formula used :

Perimeter of square = 4 × side

Solution :

Part 1)

Original Perimeter = 4 × x

➝ 96 = 4x

➝ x = 96 ÷ 4

x = 24 m

Now , length of side is increased by 50%

➝ New length = x + 50% of x

➝ New length = x + (50/100) x

➝ New length = x + 0.5x = 1.5 x

➝ New length = 1.5 × 24m

➝ New length = 36 m

_______________________________________________

New perimeter = 4 × New length

New perimeter = 4 × 36

New perimeter = 144m

ANSWER :

  • Length of original side = 24m
  • New perimeter = 144 m
