Answer:

breath=6cm

Explanation:

perimeter of rectangle+12=perimeter of square

perimeter of square=64cm

so

2(20+X)+12=64

40+2x=52

2x=12

X=6cm

breath=6cm

Given :

Each side of square = 16 cm

Perimeter of the square is 12 cm more than the perimeter of the rectangle.

Length of the rectangle = 20 cm

To Find :

Breadth of the rectangle

Solution :

Length of each side of square = 16 cm

Perimeter of square = 4×16 = 64 cm

It is given that the perimeter of the square is 12 cm more than the rectangle.

So, the perimeter of rectangle = (64-12) = 52 cm

We know,  Perimeter of the rectangle = 2(Length + Breadth)

or,                                52                       = 2(20 + Breadth)

or,                                26                       = 20 + Breadth

or,                          Breadth                    = 26 - 20

∴                            Breadth                    = 6 cm.

∴ The Breadth of the rectangle is 6 cm.
