Question

The perimeter of a square is 20 centimetre the length of its sides is

Answer :

Given :

The perimeter of the square = 20 cm

To be found :

The each side of the square

We know that,

A square is a polygon whose all sides are equal and all interior angles are 90° each.

and the formula for the perimeter of square = 4 × side

So,

⇒ 20 = 4 × side

⇒ 20 ÷ 4 = side   [ transporting 4 to LHS ]

⇒ 5 = side

∴ the each side of the square is 5 cm

Verification,

Perimeter of square = 4 × side

= 4 × 5

= 20 cm
